Terms & Conditions and Legal Disclaimer

BACARDI Superior rum would like to thank you for taking part in the Legacy Cocktail Competition 2009.

As part of this competition, it is our commitment that the winning cocktail creations from the Regional Heats that subsequently move onto the National Final –will appear within Volume 2 of the BACARDI Superior rum Legacy Cocktail Book and in subsequent marketing activity, including our own branded activity, with the Ultimate Winner being featured in Volume 3.

To allow us to fulfil this commitment, it is a condition of entry that you agree by our terms and conditions and legal disclaimer regarding your entry. Without this consent we cannot accept your entry.

Therefore can you please read the details below and tick box where indicated on the site to show that you understand the terms and conditions and legal disclaimer of your submission.

Terms and Conditions of Entry

  1. All entrants must provide the following details and any supporting information on entry at www.legacycocktail.com by the end of 2nd October 2009:
    • Full name and address, including postcode
    • Email address
    • Telephone number
    • Bar name and address
    • Cocktail recipe
    • Method and garnish
    • Glassware
    • Inspiration
  2. All entrants must read and confirm that copyright for the cocktail name, recipe, inspiration, photography of cocktail and portrait will vest in BACARDI Martini Ltd. The entrant will be accredited wherever possible.
  3. All cocktails must be inspired by BACARDI Superior rum.
  4. BACARDI Superior rum must be the dominant spirit ingredient.
  5. All cocktails should contain no other competitor rum brand.
  6. All cocktails should contain no more than 3 units of alcohol. A unit of alcohol is defined as 10ml of alcohol at 100% abv. To calculate the number of units of any volume of spirit, multiple the volume of spirit in litres by the percentage of alcohol by volume.

    Eg: 50ml of BACARDI Superior rum = 0.05 x 37.5 = 1.875 units
  7. All cocktails should use commonly available ingredients.
  8. Cocktails with house specific ingredients will not be eligible unless these are easily made and a full recipe is included.
  9. At Regional Heats, entrants are required to make a BACARDI Superior rum Original Daiquirí.
  10. All entrants must supply and be prepared to discuss and describe the inspiration behind their cocktail creation.
  11. All entrants who progress to the National Final must bring all glassware, equipment and ingredients, excluding BACARDI Superior rum and basic mixers.
  12. Entries selected for Regional Heats must be available for regional judging between 19th – 30th October 2009.
  13. Finalists of Regional Heats must be available for the National Final 4th February 2010.
  14. National Finalists are required to prepare a simple plan detailing how they plan to promote their cocktail during a 10-month period – examples can be found online at www.legacycocktail.com
  15. National Final winners must commit to a 10-month programme in partnership with BACARDI Superior rum to drive awareness, sales and popularity of their cocktail.
  16. The competition is open to selected bars only within the UK & Eire.
  17. Only one entry per person is permitted.
  18. Bacardi Martini Ltd employees or associated companies and personnel are not eligible to enter.
  19. All entrants must read and confirm that copyright for the cocktail name, recipe, inspiration, photography of cocktail and portrait will vest in BACARDI Martini Ltd. The entrant will be accredited wherever possible.
  20. All prizes are non interchangeable and there is no cash alternative.
  21. All entrants must be 18 or over.
  22. Participation confirms acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  23. The judges’ decision is final.
  24. Promoter is Bacardi Martini Limited, Bacardi Brown-Forman House, Kings Worthy, Winchester.

Legal Disclaimer

BACARDI rum reserve the right to the cocktail recipes submitted as part of the BACARDI Superior rum Legacy Cocktail Competition, Legacy Cocktail Book Volume 2 and within all BACARDI rum activity, creative material including promotional material, cocktail menus, print advertising, cocktail booklets for trade and consumers, websites and at bars of BACARDI rum hosted events including branded experiential activity such as B-Live events. Recognition of origins may be given within printed material e.g. cocktail menus.

BACARDI rum reserve the right to amend the cocktail name if inappropriate, does not adhere to Social Responsibility guidelines or the brand essence of BACARDI rum. Prior permission for this will not be sought. Recognition of origins may be given within printed material.

I understand that all photography of my cocktail submission, portrait, written signature, recipe and inspiration may be used in Bacardi rum creative material and within targeted media as part of BACARDI rum marketing without prior permission being sought.

I hereby waive any right that I may have to approve finished material or copy that may be used for any Bacardi rum material.
